Working Girl

June 6, 2014~ STYLE

Purse: Charles Jordan | Shoes: Steve Madden | Watch: Michael Kors | Ring: Forever 21 |

So I recently got a new job! I started last week and I’m loving it. My first day I wore this ensemble. My whole outfit is from Nordstrom. My first day was business casual. I wanted to look professional yet like myself. I hate stuffy suits. They’re boring and not me so I opt’d for color and prints! I always aim to look like the modern stylish young professional I am. Ha! Thank you for reading loves!

Summer 2014: Where Are You?

May 5, 2014~ STYLE

In my mind this is what I’d be wearing if summer would just come on already! The Chicago weather is crisp and some what cold at times. EVERYONE in this city is ready for Summer Time Chi including me. This outfit would be perfect for everything from festivals to eating dinner outside while shopping on Rush! I can’t wear what I want at the moment but a girl can dream!

Henri Bendel Luxe: A little New York in Chicago

April 14, 2014~ STYLE

The week I returned to Chicago from my amazing trip to New York I received an invite to Henri Bendel Luxe for an exclusive preview of their new fabulous jewelry line! Of course I had to attend being the accessories-a-holic that I am. The event took place in a fabulous hidden away space called, Jimmy at the James Hotel on Rush. It was amazing! Very chic, stylish and classy. Everyone was so sweet and engaging. Definitely loved this event!

 Love!
The back drop is chains coming from the ceiling! FABULOUS!
This layered necklace combo is my favorite piece. It’s not only very spring ready but can translate into the fall. I love blue and I’m sure it looks good on pretty much everyone.
The beautiful atmosphere.
I love rings and these are no exception. I especially love the two finger rings!

I had an amazing time! Pictured above is Rachel Yeomans from The Working Wardrobe and Kristen Koch the manager at Henri Bendel at the Water Tower Place. Thank you so much to the team of Henri Bendel New York at the Water Tower Place for such an amazing time!

Boobs, Button Ups & Grey Days…

March 11, 2014~ STYLE

Coat: ASOS similiar here; Jewelry & Sunglasses: H&M ; Shirt: Max Studio;
Shoes: Guess similiar here; Jeans: The Gap

The other day I had a million things to do and no time so I threw on a shirt, one of my favorite coats, and ran outside looking like Kramer! LOL! It was an ugly dark day, my boobs wouldn’t stay in (one of my biggest problems with button ups especially) but some how I managed. I love jewelry, sunglasses and pretty much all acessories but I tend to lose them often so H&M is a great place for my style and pockets. I’m especially obsessed with sunglasses. I was in Lincoln Park at DSW and my cousin and this fabulous guy talked me into these shoes because they were such a deal. Best decision ever.

Style Vs. Fashion

March 11, 2014~ STYLE

STYLE VS FASHION
I’ve always had Dom Perignon taste but Korbel money. Before I begin, let’s clarify something first.  Fashion is defined in Webster as: “a popular way of dressing during a particular time or among a particular group of people”

Style is defined in Webster as:  a distinctive quality, form, or type of something

Simply put fashion is what’s popular and style is what’s distinctive. I love the finer things in life. This has proven it’s self a true delimna. Why? Because I’m not a Rick Kid of Beverly Hills. But it’s my true belief that you can look like a million bucks even if you’re a hundred-aire. It’s about your style not necessarily about the high priced high fashion items. Do I want the best designer shoes, and high priced coats? YES! Can I buy this? YES! Can I afford them? Uh… NO! Growing up I wasn’t rich but I always looked fabulous no matter what (ha! At least I thought so). As a grown up with quite a bit more money I’ve learned that looking your best is attitude, a distinctive sense of style and being YOU YOU YOU! It’s not always about being trendy but ALWAYS about being stylish! One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is, it’s better to live within my means (or at least try) than to have a bad credit score and debt that will come back to hunt me! Remember that Sex & the City episode when Carrie couldn’t even get a loan? All she had was shoes? Every time I go shopping I think about that! How horrific! I’m not going to always be a single twenty something. I have goals further than the cutest shoes and purses, so I live to enjoy now but always keep in mind tomorrow. You like that expensive a$$ bag? Save for it and cut out other things. Or better yet, go on Ebay or Amazon where you can score it for a lot less!  Of course I splurge and acquire nice things but I know that thee most important thing in fashion is style. Who are you? Are you a designer whore or a stylish beast? True fashionistas and style mavens (gag) can be stylish at any and every price point! EXAMPLE? Rihanna and her faux jewelry from Claire’s, Beyonce and her topshop outfits, The Kardashian/Jenner clan wearing everything from H&M pants to their own Kardashian collection, Taylor Swift in Ann Taylor, Reese Witherspoon in Asos, Alessandra Ambrosio in a top from Khol’s and Jessica Alba in Express Jeans. Expensive doesn’t always equal stylish! Food for thought and your wallet.

Oscar Stunnas

March 9, 2014~ STYLE

For me award shows are either exciting and funny OR boring and only worth seeing what the stars are wearing (or what shady faces Rihanna is making LOL)! The makeup, the silhouettes, dresses, and colors really inspire my personal style. This year’s Oscars had some awesome looks. although it could have used some more color (thanks Lupita). For me these were the only ones worth mentioning.

Lupita Nyong’o in Prada
She looked amazing! She’s given nothing but sickening style every since she’s stepped into the lime light. She’s is a style star and epically fabulous! She is the definition of Chic in Chocolate. She’s is class and beautiful in and out! She’s a WINNER in every way! I will be extending my fashion color palette and maybe getting a headband!!

Naomi Watts in Calvin Klein
I’m obsessed with white and I love everything about this. From the cluth to the amazing necklace that she described herself as a spider web. I want it! Loved this dress! Second fave!

Kate Hudson in Versace Atelier
Simply put, she was elegant, sexy with a little edge!! This caped look is EVERYTHING! The hair fits the look well too! Everything about this was regal! SHE SLAYED! Who doesn’t love a sickening caped moment!?!

Jenna Dewan Tatum in Reem Acra
This dress gives me “Sex & the City: The Movie” when Carrie was in Vera Wang! I loved that dress and this one shares the same feelings! One of the few nude dresses that didn’t completely bore me.
Anna Kendrick in J Mendel
I like this for the mere fact that this is very different and edgy. It is an interesting piece and I think she rocked it! Her hair could have been better but I love the dress and I’m crazy for the bag!
Kevin Spacey in Burberry
I love that he didn’t wear black! I love the navy and black mix. Strangely he was giving me sexy! Other than being obsessed with his character Francis Underwood on House of Cards I’m obsessed with this look. HANDSOME!
Matthew McConhaughey in Dolce & Gabbana
Several men wore white but I loved Matthew the best. The silk black lining on his jacket front pocket and black silk black lapel.. OMG! Delicious! His outfit looked like it was well conceived. I love Jared Leto but Matthew did it best!
Jada Pinkett-Smith in Versace
This color was pretty on her skin! She looks curvy, confident and very chic. This was a good choice!
