Saturday afternoon was EPIC! I don’t have many pics from Saturday that’s how EPIC it was! Brunch at SoCo with this amazing group of young, successful career minded women was amazing. Unlimited mimosas and laughs is always everything and more. I ate a lot and all of that info can be featured here. Below are a few photos from brunch that can also be found on my Instagram! P.S. I have stylish friends!!
Sunday was pretty cool. My friend really wanted me to experience Harlem. To me it was very Chicago Avenue & Ashland when I was 12. LOL! Very interesting, lots of culture but nothing about it was glamorous from the small amount I saw. I was not at all impressed by the area but definitely fascinated by the amazing eclectic crowd. I enjoyed that the most in Harlem.
I took sooo many photos of food. All of my food chronicles including little shops I stopped in are here…
I spent most of my day spending way too much money at Century 21 one of my favorite places in NY! It’s like a bigger better version of my beloved Marshalls! I am obsessed with finding amazing bags so I spent the day searching the racks and counter! Scored two fab bags too for a great price!
I’ve been busy preparing for NY this upcoming weekend. Lots more personal style coming to you soon! Stay tuned!
This past Wednesday I had a day filled with the usual errands of a girl who strives for perfection and fabulousness; Hair, Eyebrows, Brazilian (No Chip Mani was over the weekend). Despite of all these errands I made sure I found time to attend Windy City Blogger’s Happy Hour and let me just say SUPER CHIC! I arrived to the swank Public Hotel located in the Gold Coast. It was beautiful! I found my way to their Library bar that was utterly sickening! It was very professional and the food and drinks were amazing! Shockingly comped us everything during our event and didn’t disappoint! The staff was beautiful so accommodating! If ever I have a need for a hotel they’ll definitely on the top of my list!
The other day I had a million things to do and no time so I threw on a shirt, one of my favorite coats, and ran outside looking like Kramer! LOL! It was an ugly dark day, my boobs wouldn’t stay in (one of my biggest problems with button ups especially) but some how I managed. I love jewelry, sunglasses and pretty much all acessories but I tend to lose them often so H&M is a great place for my style and pockets. I’m especially obsessed with sunglasses. I was in Lincoln Park at DSW and my cousin and this fabulous guy talked me into these shoes because they were such a deal. Best decision ever.
Style is defined in Webster as: a distinctive quality, form, or type of something
Simply put fashion is what’s popular and style is what’s distinctive. I love the finer things in life. This has proven it’s self a true delimna. Why? Because I’m not a Rick Kid of Beverly Hills. But it’s my true belief that you can look like a million bucks even if you’re a hundred-aire. It’s about your style not necessarily about the high priced high fashion items. Do I want the best designer shoes, and high priced coats? YES! Can I buy this? YES! Can I afford them? Uh… NO! Growing up I wasn’t rich but I always looked fabulous no matter what (ha! At least I thought so). As a grown up with quite a bit more money I’ve learned that looking your best is attitude, a distinctive sense of style and being YOU YOU YOU! It’s not always about being trendy but ALWAYS about being stylish! One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is, it’s better to live within my means (or at least try) than to have a bad credit score and debt that will come back to hunt me! Remember that Sex & the City episode when Carrie couldn’t even get a loan? All she had was shoes? Every time I go shopping I think about that! How horrific! I’m not going to always be a single twenty something. I have goals further than the cutest shoes and purses, so I live to enjoy now but always keep in mind tomorrow. You like that expensive a$$ bag? Save for it and cut out other things. Or better yet, go on Ebay or Amazon where you can score it for a lot less! Of course I splurge and acquire nice things but I know that thee most important thing in fashion is style. Who are you? Are you a designer whore or a stylish beast? True fashionistas and style mavens (gag) can be stylish at any and every price point! EXAMPLE? Rihanna and her faux jewelry from Claire’s, Beyonce and her topshop outfits, The Kardashian/Jenner clan wearing everything from H&M pants to their own Kardashian collection, Taylor Swift in Ann Taylor, Reese Witherspoon in Asos, Alessandra Ambrosio in a top from Khol’s and Jessica Alba in Express Jeans. Expensive doesn’t always equal stylish! Food for thought and your wallet.
