This past Wednesday I had a day filled with the usual errands of a girl who strives for perfection and fabulousness; Hair, Eyebrows, Brazilian (No Chip Mani was over the weekend). Despite of all these errands I made sure I found time to attend Windy City Blogger’s Happy Hour and let me just say SUPER CHIC! I arrived to the swank Public Hotel located in the Gold Coast. It was beautiful! I found my way to their Library bar that was utterly sickening! It was very professional and the food and drinks were amazing! Shockingly comped us everything during our event and didn’t disappoint! The staff was beautiful so accommodating! If ever I have a need for a hotel they’ll definitely on the top of my list!
The other day I had a million things to do and no time so I threw on a shirt, one of my favorite coats, and ran outside looking like Kramer! LOL! It was an ugly dark day, my boobs wouldn’t stay in (one of my biggest problems with button ups especially) but some how I managed. I love jewelry, sunglasses and pretty much all acessories but I tend to lose them often so H&M is a great place for my style and pockets. I’m especially obsessed with sunglasses. I was in Lincoln Park at DSW and my cousin and this fabulous guy talked me into these shoes because they were such a deal. Best decision ever.
Style is defined in Webster as: a distinctive quality, form, or type of something
Simply put fashion is what’s popular and style is what’s distinctive. I love the finer things in life. This has proven it’s self a true delimna. Why? Because I’m not a Rick Kid of Beverly Hills. But it’s my true belief that you can look like a million bucks even if you’re a hundred-aire. It’s about your style not necessarily about the high priced high fashion items. Do I want the best designer shoes, and high priced coats? YES! Can I buy this? YES! Can I afford them? Uh… NO! Growing up I wasn’t rich but I always looked fabulous no matter what (ha! At least I thought so). As a grown up with quite a bit more money I’ve learned that looking your best is attitude, a distinctive sense of style and being YOU YOU YOU! It’s not always about being trendy but ALWAYS about being stylish! One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is, it’s better to live within my means (or at least try) than to have a bad credit score and debt that will come back to hunt me! Remember that Sex & the City episode when Carrie couldn’t even get a loan? All she had was shoes? Every time I go shopping I think about that! How horrific! I’m not going to always be a single twenty something. I have goals further than the cutest shoes and purses, so I live to enjoy now but always keep in mind tomorrow. You like that expensive a$$ bag? Save for it and cut out other things. Or better yet, go on Ebay or Amazon where you can score it for a lot less! Of course I splurge and acquire nice things but I know that thee most important thing in fashion is style. Who are you? Are you a designer whore or a stylish beast? True fashionistas and style mavens (gag) can be stylish at any and every price point! EXAMPLE? Rihanna and her faux jewelry from Claire’s, Beyonce and her topshop outfits, The Kardashian/Jenner clan wearing everything from H&M pants to their own Kardashian collection, Taylor Swift in Ann Taylor, Reese Witherspoon in Asos, Alessandra Ambrosio in a top from Khol’s and Jessica Alba in Express Jeans. Expensive doesn’t always equal stylish! Food for thought and your wallet.
Over the last several months, I’ve began purchasing things for the home I’ll eventually buy. I’m obsessed with home decor. I love fashion but there is something about a beautiful home that just does things for me. The most exciting pieces for me are the biggest one like couches, beds, huge rugs, tables etc etc… Below are pictures of my inspiration for my future living room.
My beauty essentials are things I need all year round and can’t live without.
1. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
I’ve tried many many moisturizers for my face and this is by far one of the best. This has been on Allure’s best beauty products over the past several years and it completely deserves it. Whether summer or winter it keeps your face moisturized and you only need a dallop. Highly recommend.
2. Freeman’s Facial Masks
I absolutely love these at home easy masks! I first bought a trial pack at Walmart randomly and fell in love. My favorite is the cucumber mask because it peels off and leaves me glowing! I never broke out which is great for my super sensitive dry skin! Won’t break out your face, nor your pockets!
3. Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover
I always hate having to take my makeup off! I NEVER feel like it! I force myself to because my skin is trash the next morning if I don’t. When I discovered this makeup remover and cleanser all my prayers were answered. All you have to do is lather up then rinse. It’s perfect and cleans amazingly. This is my makeup remover and face cleanser when I’m lazy or rushing or hate my makeup and have decided to redo my entire face. Super affordable, super efficient.
4&5. Julep Lip Scrub & Vaseline Lip Therapy
My lips peel a lot in this nasty weather and get darker when season are changing. They get dry and in the past crack! So my go to products are a lip scrub and vaseline lip therapy! I brush my lips with my toothbrush (you should do this if you don’t ur lip sticks and glosses will go on better) but sometimes a scrub really makes them softer and more moisturized! The Vaseline Lip Therapy in the cute mini jar is by far better than the one in the white tube! I promise this! I’ve used both and they just seem to be very different! It moisturizes well and lasts! Cures uber dried lips every time!
I love my Clarisonic! It’s the best mini facial microdermabrasion tool! I use it no more than twice a week and it works! It’s seriously one of the best tools ever! DO NOT forget to change your brush no matter what! At thee least every 6 months if you use it regularly!
