My book club is back! This month I’m sharing a book I found and fell in love with late last year. I like to think of myself as a cynical romantic. I’m a lover of love but I often doubt sincerity. When I began reading Love Letter to Whiskey I wasn’t sure what I’d find. What I found was so much more than I bargained for. I couldn’t have guessed in a million years a story about rejection, loss, heartbreak, unwavering friendships, love and personal growth would make me less cynical. I could totally relate to this book.
Love Letter to Whiskey tells the story of B & Jamie’s 11 year friendship. They grow up together fighting against themselves and time. Their love is unfathomable and frustrating. As a reader I was pissed at B & Jamie throughout the novel. In the beginning Jamie had chemistry with B but he didn’t choose her. He chose the safe choice which led them down a road filled with doubt, mistakes and ultimately pain. This well written book was amazing until the very last page. You think you know what’s going to happen but your holding your breath until the very final sentence.
