I love reading. I spend about 20 hours a week engrossed in books about falling in loving whether it’s with yourself, someone else or the dreams you hold dear. I was very surprised to come across the unique series, If I Break. It took me quite a while to even attempt to read this because it seemed like something else but once I took it upon myself to read, I finished the entire series in less than a week. Thought I was kidding about those 20 hours didn’t you?!? Hahahahaa.
If I Break isn’t your typical love story, boy meets girl, goes through ups and downs and then finally gets a happily ever after. No way! I probably wouldn’t review a book that simple. It’s about falling in love with someone you think you know but really don’t. It’s about seeing what you want to see instead of the whole picture. If I Break deals with illness, denial, loving someone you hate, hating the person you love, betrayal on top of lies on top of deceit and the idea of forgiveness. The book begins with a small town girl named Lauren who moves to Chicago. I know what you’re thinking… CHICAGO YOUR HOMETOWN? I could’t believe it either. Lauren falls in love and marries a very sexy, mysterious spontaneous man names Cal. The marriage is a nightmare when she finds herself consistently alone and wondering where her husband has disappeared to for days. One day he leaves her stating it’s not because he wants to but because he has to but ensures she’s taken care of in his absence. Lauren is devastated but even more so two years later she when she finds him engaged to another woman without any recollection of her nor the life they had together. This series was so phenomenal. We’ll written, surprise on top of surprise. Just when you think you can predict what’s happening Moore takes it further then you could fathom. I love that this book gives you several perspectives. You get a chance to get inside the head of a characters and get to know them. I don’t want to ruin this book for you but it definitely made me think about how to truly love someone for better or for worse. Couldn’t imagine marrying someone and not knowing every side of them. If you read this series please comment below. I will be reading and replying to comments. I’m in love with reading so expect at least one book a month if not more.
