Style is defined in Webster as: a distinctive quality, form, or type of something
Simply put fashion is what’s popular and style is what’s distinctive. I love the finer things in life. This has proven it’s self a true delimna. Why? Because I’m not a Rick Kid of Beverly Hills. But it’s my true belief that you can look like a million bucks even if you’re a hundred-aire. It’s about your style not necessarily about the high priced high fashion items. Do I want the best designer shoes, and high priced coats? YES! Can I buy this? YES! Can I afford them? Uh… NO! Growing up I wasn’t rich but I always looked fabulous no matter what (ha! At least I thought so). As a grown up with quite a bit more money I’ve learned that looking your best is attitude, a distinctive sense of style and being YOU YOU YOU! It’s not always about being trendy but ALWAYS about being stylish! One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is, it’s better to live within my means (or at least try) than to have a bad credit score and debt that will come back to hunt me! Remember that Sex & the City episode when Carrie couldn’t even get a loan? All she had was shoes? Every time I go shopping I think about that! How horrific! I’m not going to always be a single twenty something. I have goals further than the cutest shoes and purses, so I live to enjoy now but always keep in mind tomorrow. You like that expensive a$$ bag? Save for it and cut out other things. Or better yet, go on Ebay or Amazon where you can score it for a lot less! Of course I splurge and acquire nice things but I know that thee most important thing in fashion is style. Who are you? Are you a designer whore or a stylish beast? True fashionistas and style mavens (gag) can be stylish at any and every price point! EXAMPLE? Rihanna and her faux jewelry from Claire’s, Beyonce and her topshop outfits, The Kardashian/Jenner clan wearing everything from H&M pants to their own Kardashian collection, Taylor Swift in Ann Taylor, Reese Witherspoon in Asos, Alessandra Ambrosio in a top from Khol’s and Jessica Alba in Express Jeans. Expensive doesn’t always equal stylish! Food for thought and your wallet.
